The Princess and the Goblin

A new play for children

The evil goblins under the mountain plan to kidnap princess Irene and force her to become their queen. Can her magical great-great grandmother and Curdie the brave miner boy save Irene before it is too late? What other dastardly plots might the goblins be hatching, and will Curdie be in time to stop the goblins wreaking the most terrible of revenges?

Based on the novel by George MacDonald, this new play enjoyed its world premiere at Holkham Hall, Norfolk, in February 2020 where it was performed to a sell out audience. In 2021, thanks to Arts Council funding, it was made into a movie.  August 2021 will also see its return to stage, with a brand new open air performance at Mannington Hall.
